Penelope Compton
Quality Assured Accredited Childminder
St.Albans, Hertfordshire.

Children are individuals and flourish at their own pace. Home-based childcare is an ideal environment for this to be nurtured. Low ratios enable effective planning and observation to have maximum effect on children’s development.

My home provides a warm and caring environment for children and babies. I have been a registered childminder since 1989 when the Children Act came into force. I have been an accredited childminder since 2005. This means I provide early years education for 3 and 4 year olds using the Government Nursery Funding. Children can remain in my setting until they enter Reception Class. I have attained quality status through Young in Herts Quality Standards Scheme. I am also a National Childminding Association Children Come First Network Childminder with St.Albans Children’s Centre. I am a member of the National Childminding Association holding their public liability and legal insurance.

My family consists of my husband Paul of 25 years, sons Andrew and Richard 23 years and 21 years respectively and our daughter Sophie who is 17years. The family are fully supportive of my business.

My hobbies are varied; - Nature, walking and bird watching, gardening especially growing our own fruit and vegetables and all manner of sewing from tapestry to bobbin lace. Reading when I get the chance.

In April 2007 I went to China and Tibet on an Early Years Study Tour. We visited kindergartens, schools, after school clubs, hospitals, barefoot doctor and plenty of other places of interest and Buddhist temples.
